DISCOVER THE AREA

MOOOOD B&B is situated on a beautiful peninsula called Pilion, named after the mountain Pilion, which forms a hook-like peninsula between the Pagasetic Gulf and the Aegean Sea.

This luscious area was even assumed to be a summer retreat for the Greek Gods, and let’s be honest, it’s not difficult to see why. Its many wellsprings and streams, its captivating forests, olive gardens, orchards, and lovely villages and their great cuisine are just waiting to be discovered by you. And let’s not forget - the sea! The peninsula offers something for everyone: Beautiful pebble beaches by the Pagasetic Gulf and lovely sandy coasts by the Aegean Sea.

PILION

Its highest summit, Pourianos Stavros, is 1,624 metres. Our nearest village is called Lefokastro (close to Argalasti). It’s a quaint, small town with a few restaurants and peaceful beaches.

In Greek mythology, Mount Pilion (which took its name from the mythical king Peleus, father of Achilles) was the homeland of Chiron the wise and mighty Centaur and tutor of many ancient Greek heroes, including Jason, Achilles, Theseus, and Heracles.

HIKING EN MOUNTAIN BIKING

The mountain is thickly forested, mainly consisting of beech, oak, maple, and chestnut trees, with olive, apple, pear and plane tree. Pelion is considered one of the most beautiful mountains in Greece and is a popular attraction throughout the year. Hiking trails and stone paths give access to springs, coves, and numerous beaches set among lusciously green slopes. Pilion is an amply watered mountain with an abundance of springs, gorges, and streams. All that makes this an ideal area for long beautiful walks and mountain bike rides…

BEACHES

Pilion is home to a few of the most beautiful beaches in all of Greece. Imagine crystal blue water surrounded by steep green slopes. You’ll be able to enjoy a breathtaking beach holiday, no matter which type of beach you choose to go to. Looking for a remote peaceful pebble or sandy beach? Or do you prefer a more “cosmopolitan” organized beach? You’ll be sure to discover the perfect one either by the Aegean Sea or by the Pagasetic Gulf. A lot of the beaches in this area have received the European Union’s “Blue Flag” recognition for their exceptionally clean blue water. So, get your bathing suit ready, bring your towel and explore Pilion’s many beaches!

EVERYTHING YOU WANT AND MORE

MOUNTAIN & FISHING TOWNS

Our B&B’s central position on the peninsula makes it the perfect place from which to visit the mountain villages and fishing towns by the beaches. You can head land inwards, or go down to the bay, the Aegean Coast, and the most southern point of the peninsula.

You’ll be able to discover rustic places with traditional local taverns serving up “mother’s cuisine;” small bars where the fishermen will come to have a drink and enjoy a good meal; cosy terraces by the coast; and other delights. In other words, you’ll be able to relax and enjoy “the good life” in a genuinely traditional region of Greece.

THE SPORADES

And, for even more adventure, you can visit the Sporades, an archipelago consisting of the islands Skiathos, Skopelos, and Alonnisos, among others. These can easily be reached from Volos by boat. The “Flying Dolphin” will take you to Skiathos in just 1 hour, so you’ll even be able to turn this into a day trip. Some passenger ships may take a bit longer, but will allow you to take your car. Alternatively, a few coastal villages in the South of Pilion offer ferry services, which will get you to Skiathos in just 30 minutes. There are plenty of options!
